There are many possible reasons for waking up in the middle of the night and could not fall asleep again. It can be physical, such as muscle pain, muscle tension, go to the toilet, leaving the TV, your partner is snoring, you had too much caffeine or alcohol in the day, and so on. For them, we can usually make a decision:
to do some light stretching of muscle pain
some aspirin / Tylenol / Advil / etc, if the pain is keeping you awake
move to another bed
turn off the TV
get up and do something until you are tired enough to fall back asleep
Psychiatric causes of sleeplessness
When you are worried about something that can be a real Bugaboo. If you have something on your mind, it can be hard to sleep. Many times you can not even be aware that you are concerned, much less what to worry about. But in most cases you will need to solve the problem, or most likely will not sleep again soon. So what should you do? Follow these steps to rid your mind of worries and sleep again.
- Signs of our dreams. If you wake up from sleep, think about this for a moment. What happens in sleep? What do you think each part is? Is there something you fear, concern or problem to solve?
- What are you thinking? Whether you have a dream or not, ask yourself,
What is bothering me?
What problem should we decide?
Perhaps concerned about your health or a loved one’s health. Perhaps the question is at work that you have been avoided. Perhaps you have been in dispute with your spouse or best friend. Or maybe you just feel the fear of death. (Night time is a tedious way to do that sometimes). Or it may just be that your task list so that is frightening you up at night. Whatever it is, do not be afraid to identify and label. Thinking you will not make your fears come true. Do not think it will keep you from sleeping.
