Do not think germs participate in the refrigerator to freeze. It is precisely in the refrigerator, some types of bacteria thrive. “Salad is stored in the refrigerator 750 times potentially contaminated by bacteria,” said
Paul McDonnell, a researcher.
He calls, a number of deadly bacteria are also resistant to refrigerator temperature, such as E coli and salmonella. At least, 8.000 colonies bacteria in it.
Tests conducted, there are approximately 7850 units of bacterial colonies (cfu) per cm square. Though, to be categorized as ‘clean of bacteria’, the default is 0-10 cfu/cm2.
But McDonnell stated refrigerator is still important to keep food safe for consumption and minimize the possibility of bacterial and fungal growth which can cause big problems.
“The performance of the refrigerator is especially important in warm weather, when high ambient temperature causes bacteria to multiply the potential to be high anyway,” he said.
Low temperature refrigerator, he said, will inhibit bacterial growth. “When bacteria get a foothold and cleaning is not done they will tend to increase during the period of time,” he said.
That’s why you should be aware of what things you’re going to put it in the refrigerator, not all things good to be preserved in the refrigerator. Once again, food like salad is not good to be preserved in the refrigerator because it’s potentially contaminated by bacteria and a number of bacteria are resistant to refrigerator temperature. You’d better serve salad as much as you need and nothing left behind. Besides, food like salad is good to be consumed in fresh condition.
