Many people like to enjoy baked food and there are plenty of restaurants serving grilled food in a way. However, the scientists say that the choice of the processed foods that can give a bad impact on health.

Compared to a boil, cook food with grilling can increase cancer risk by two-fold, although the meat is cooked until done. The scientists found that the meat is baked or fried cause carcinogenic mutations on the surface of the food.

A study conducted by the Norwegian Institute of public health as an experiment to test mice that are expected to reflect similar conditions in humans. They found that humans have certain enzymes called sulfotransferases (sult) in some parts of their bodies. In mice, this enzyme only in the liver.

Sult enzyme serves to convert some of the ingredients in foods that are harmless. In addition, this enzyme also has the ability to change the content of food be carcinogenic or cancer causing.

“We wanted to examine the development of colon tumors in mice that often consumed baked and fried foods and compare them with the development of tumors in normal mice that were fed the same contaminated food,” the scientists said, as quoted from Dailymail.

The results show that scientists find colon tumors increased from 31 to 80 percent in mice who ate a grilled meat, just like humans. In addition, the scientists also noted that the rat is not a perfect experiment to illustrate the health risks of human colon via consumption of contaminated food.
